007 Finding Lightness through Shadow Work with Rhonda Lovell

Season #1

This episode is all about shadow work on our self-healing journeys as women and mothers.

I define shadow work as looking at the parts of you that aren't easy to look at (the trauma, the fears, the things/feelings/thoughts that you have resistance towards even looking at and acknowledging). The shadows can include the unconscious and conscious beliefs you have that hold you back.

We can get stuck in unhelpful patterns out of an illusion that we are safer if we don’t look at the shadows. The shadows can seem scary and uncomfortable to face (even the name is off-putting, but you'll find the more you do the shadow work, the more you'll see how it an important piece of the work).

Rhonda Lovell joins me in this discussion and dropped SO many nuggets of wisdom.

Rhonda is a writer, artist, nurse and mother. She is currently working on a collection of pieces that explore the extraordinary courage it takes to find healing in the ordinary and prove we don't always need to travel far to come home to ourselves. Rhonda is such a shining example of how to take radical accountability of self amongst the shadows to create your own upward spiral of self love and growth.

Shadow work invites acceptance of ourselves on a deeper level. It invites healing that will propel you forward. It invites more self love. Even though it can feel hard to explore the shadows, you’ll find that there can be lightness there (even if not right away) when you move through it.

This is an episode you could listen to again and again, and pull something new from each time. Bring the shadows to light and there will be less darkness.
